Votive Light Card

Those who receive our Inspirational Card (Votive Light Card) are remembered in 30 days of prayer and a 30 day Votive Light is lit for their intentions. The Votive Light Shrine is located in Alumni Chapel on the campus of Niagara University.

Do not cast me aside in my old age; as my strength fails, do not forsake me. For my enemies speak against me; they watch and plot against me. They say, “God has abandoned that one. Pursue, seize the wretch! No one will come to the rescue!” God, do not stand far from me; my God, hasten to help me. Bring to a shameful end those who attack me; cover with contempt and scorn those who seek my ruin. I will always hope in you and add to all your praise. My mouth shall proclaim your just deeds, day after day your acts of deliverance, though I cannot number them all. Psalm 71 continued – verses 9-16

My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

James 5:19-20

My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing and chant praise. Awake, my soul; awake, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn. Psalm 57 continued – verses 8-12

How precious to me are your designs, O God; how vast the sum of them! Were I to count, they would outnumber the sands; to finish, I would need eternity. If only you would destroy the wicked, O God, and the bloodthirsty would depart from me! Deceitfully they invoke your name; your foes swear faithless oaths. Do I not hate, Lord, those who hate you? Those who rise against you, do I not loathe? With fierce hatred I hate them, enemies I count as my own. Probe me, God, know my heart; try me, know my concern. See if my way is crooked, then lead me in the ancient paths.

Psalm 139: 17-24

My soul rests in God alone, from whom comes my salvation. God alone is my rock and salvation, my secure height; I shall never fall. How long will you set upon people, all of you beating them down, as though they were a sagging fence or a battered wall? Even from my place on high they plot to dislodge me. They delight in lies; they bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. My soul be at rest in God alone, from whom comes my hope. Psalm 62:2-7

How many are my foes, Lord! How many rise against me! How many say of me, “God will not save that one.” But you, Lord, are a shield around me; my glory, you keep my head high.

Psalm 3:1-8

By the rivers of Babylon we sat mourning and weeping when we remembered Zion. On the poplars of that land we hung up our harps. There our captors asked us for the words of a song; our tormentors, for a joyful song: “Sing for us a song of Zion!” But how could we sing a song of the Lord in a foreign land? If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither. May my tongue stick to my palate if I do not remember you, If I do not exalt Jerusalem beyond all my delights. Remember, Lord, against Edom that day at Jerusalem. They said: “Level it, level it down to its foundations!” Fair Babylon, you destroyer, happy those who pay you back the evil you have done us! Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock.

Psalm 137

The Lord swore an oath to David, a pledge never to be broken: “Your own offspring I will set upon your throne. If your sons observe my covenant, the laws I shall teach them, their sons, in turn, shall sit forever on your throne.” Yes, the Lord has chosen Zion, desired it for a dwelling: “This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I desire it. I will bless Zion with meat; its poor I will fill with bread. I will clothe its priests with blessings; its faithful shall shout for joy. There I will make a horn sprout for David’s line; I will set a lamp for my anointed. His foes I will clothe with shame, but on him my crown shall gleam.”

Psalm 132: 11-18

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the holy ones who are faithful in Christ Jesus: grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, as he choose us in him before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved.

Ephesians 1:1-6

Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry. Because of these the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient. By these you too once conducted yourselves, when you lived in that way. But now you must put them all away: anger, fury, malice, slander, and obscene language out of your mouths. Stop lying to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of the creator. Here there is not Greek or Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all in all.
