New Additions to Our Lady of Angels Shrine

We have added four new beautiful granite benches at Our Lady of Angels Shrine on the campus of Niagara University. We have one bench left available for inscriptions. The offering for each bench is $5,000. You may have your personal inscription placed on each bench, e.g. “In Memory of…” or “In Honor of…”.

The names listed on the benches, as well as the donors, will share in the spiritual benefits of the many Masses and prayers of the members of the Vincentian Community.

Daily Scripture Reading

Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you.  If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son and in the Father.  And this is the promise that he made us: eternal life.  I write you these things about those who would deceive you.  As for you, the anointing that you received from him remains in you, so that you do not need anyone to teach you.  But his anointing teaches you about everything and is true and not false; just as it taught you, remain in him.
I John 2:24-27
Consider your own calling.  Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.  Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, so that no human being might boast before God. It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.”
I Corinthians 1:26-31
I love the Lord, who listened to my voice in supplication, who turned an ear to me on the day I called. I was caught by the cords of death; the snares of Sheol had seized me; I felt agony and dread. Then I called on the name of the Lord, “O Lord, save my life!” Gracious is the Lord and just; yes, our God is merciful. The Lord protects the simple; I was helpless, but God saved me. Return, my soul, to your rest; the Lord has been good to you. For my soul has been freed from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. I shall walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
Psalm 116:1-9
Who among you is wise and understanding?   Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom.  But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.  Wisdom of this kind does not come down from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice.  But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity.  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace.
James 3:13-18
Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize?  Run so as to win.  Every athlete exercises discipline in every way.  They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.  Thus I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight as if I were shadowboxing.  No I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
I Corinthians 9:24-27
But if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead?  If there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither has Christ been raised.  And if Christ has not been raised then empty too is our preaching; empty, too, your faith.  Then we are also false witnesses to God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised, and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.  Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.  If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are the most pitiable people of all.
I Corinthians 15:12-19
Join with others in being imitators of me, and observe those who thus conduct themselves according to the model you have in us. For many, as I have often told you and now tell you even in tears, conduct themselves as enemies of the cross of Christ.  Their end is destruction.  Their God is their stomach; their glory is in their “shame.”  Their minds are occupied with earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.  He will change our lowly body to conform to his glorified body by the power that enables him also to bring all things into subjection to himself.
Philippians 4:17-21
Be gracious to me, Lord, for I am in distress; with grief my eyes are wasted, my soul and body spent. My life is worn out by sorrow, my years by sighing. My strength fails in affliction; my bones are consumed. To all my foes I am a thing of scorn, to my neighbors, a dreaded sight, a horror to my friends. But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands; rescue me from my enemies, from the hands of my pursuers. Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your kindness. Do not let me be put to shame, for I have called to you, Lord.
Psalm 31 continued – verses 10-12, 15-18
Malicious witnesses come forward, accuse me of things I do not know. They repay me evil for good and I am all alone. Yet I, when they were ill, put on sack-cloth, afflicted myself with fasting, sobbed my prayers upon my bosom. I went about in grief as for my brother, bent in mourning as for my mother. Yet when I stumbled they gathered with glee; they gathered against me like strangers. They slandered me without ceasing; without respect they mocked me, gnashed their teeth against me.
Psalm 35 continued – verses 11-16
My safety and glory are with God, my strong rock and refuge. Trust God at all times, my people! Pour out your hearts to God our refuge. Mortals are a mere breath, and the powerful but an illusions; On a balance they rise; together they are lighter than air. Do not trust in extortion; in plunder put no empty hope. Though wealth increase, do not set your heart upon it. One thing God has said; two things I have heard: power belongs to God; so too, Lord, does kindness, and you render to each of us according to our deeds.
Psalm 62 continued – verses 8-13
